The city of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County have begun going door to door and doing defensible space inspections. They provide a report of their findings including photos and remediation needs, including the code related to the issue. You can also request they come to your house sooner rather than later!.

It used to be just a form taped to your door but they’ve now created online reports with mapping and pins on exactly which trees, brushes, etc need to be remedied. They include items that have to be corrected and items that they recommend correcting like home hardening tasks including open eaves, combustible fences being too close, highly combustible decks and siding, moving outbuildings etc.
